When someone receives a cancer diagnosis, life can suddenly become a whirlwind of appointments, treatments, decisions and emotions.
Your body may feel different. Your confidence may change. And sometimes, the little things you once did for yourself can fall to the bottom of a very long list.
But something I feel incredibly strongly about is this:
You are still you. And you deserve to feel cared for, too.
💜 A little time that’s just for you
I’m Emma, the face behind E L Beauty & Therapy in Admaston, Telford.
I’ve worked in the beauty and wellbeing industry for over 33 years, but some of the most meaningful work I’ve done has been supporting people who are living with and beyond cancer.
I’m specially trained in cancer-safe massage, facials and Restore Scar Therapy, and I understand that having a treatment after a cancer diagnosis can feel a little daunting.
You might be worried about your skin, scars or how your body has changed. You might not know which treatments are suitable anymore.
Or perhaps you simply haven’t felt comfortable letting someone look after you for a while.
That’s absolutely fine. We can start with a conversation.
There is never any pressure, and every treatment is carefully adapted to your individual needs, medical circumstances and how you’re feeling on the day.
Two free treatments, thanks to Lingen Davies
I’m incredibly proud to work alongside Lingen Davies Cancer Support, helping people affected by cancer access treatments they might not otherwise consider or even realise are available.
Through the Lingen Davies Wellbeing Programme, eligible patients can receive up to two fully funded treatments with me.
These appointments aren’t about changing how you look or how you feel you should be.
They’re about giving you a little time to relax, feel comfortable and be looked after.
Depending on your individual needs and suitability, treatments may include:
• Cancer-safe massage to encourage relaxation and comfort.
• Cancer-safe facials, carefully adapted to your skin and circumstances.
• Gentle Restore Scar Therapy to help with discomfort and tightness associated with healed scars.
We can discuss the most appropriate option together.
Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to receive some lovely words from the people I’ve treated.
“Thank you for making me feel like me again.”
“I’ve not felt so relaxed in so long, thank you!”
“Made a massive difference to my scar.”
And one that really stays with me:
“Having trust in someone when you have had a cancer diagnosis.”
That last one means so much.
Because when your body has been through something difficult, trusting someone else to touch it, even for a relaxing treatment, can be a really big step.
I never take that trust for granted.
My treatment room is somewhere you can ask questions, talk about your concerns, tell me what you’re comfortable with and take things at your own pace.
Who can access these free treatments?
The Lingen Davies programme supports men and women who have received a cancer diagnosis within the last three years, subject to the programme’s eligibility criteria.
Treatments are available to eligible people across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Mid Wales.
You don’t have to know which treatment you’d like or whether it’s suitable before getting in touch.
Just contact me, and we can have a chat about the support available and how to access it.
Please share this with someone who might need it
One of the biggest challenges is simply making sure people know this support exists.
If you’re a nurse, healthcare professional, carer, friend or family member supporting someone affected by cancer, please help me spread the word.
There may be somebody who would really benefit from a little time for themselves but has no idea these funded treatments are available.
And if you’re reading this because you’re going through cancer yourself, please know you’re very welcome to get in touch.
You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t need to feel a certain way. And you certainly don’t need to apologise for asking questions.
You deserve kindness, comfort and time for yourself, too.
I’d love to hear from you.
